Consultation: Some Novel and Imaginative Approaches

A joint LARIA/LGA Seminar
Thursday 15 February 2007

Local Government Association Offices, London

What Is It About?

At a time when so much research, consultation and evaluation is taking place it is important to ensure that you can stand out amongst the crowd with approaches that are imaginative and enjoyable. This seminar explores simple but effective ways of approaching research and consultation that can help get the best out of participants - keeping them engaged whilst obtaining the outcomes officers want. The programme takes a look at a broad range of approaches from using information technology, to making changes to group discussions. Two speakers talk about the benefits of involving local people in research and consultation - either as mystery shoppers or peer interviewers - something that can assist with the Stronger Communities agenda and another speaker describes participatory budgeting approaches and how consultation intersects with decision-making.

Who is it for?

This seminar is for research and consultation officers working across local authorities. It will also be of interest to strategic partners involved in community development and consultation.

Cost
£140 per delegate (including lunch). £120 for Corporate Members of LARIA
