SSRG Newsletter - June 2001: PAF Commentary Update

SSRG has published 2 volumes of commentary on the PSS Performance Assessment Framework and Audit Commission Pis. Both volumes can be found at the SSRG website at the following address: http://www.ssrg.demon.co.uk/paf3/paf3.htm CHANGE THIS

Volume 1 covers children's indicators and Volume 2 adult indicators.

The commentary in each volume reviews developments in 2000 and 2001, including a comprehensive listing of initiatives where performance data are being developed added to the demands on SSDs. This includes initial comments on the latest NHS PI consultation document issued last week.

As with the second edition (published by SSRG in March and circulated to all SSDs - still available on the SSRG website) the material discussing each indicator covers :

• definitions and problems in the data
• objectives of the indicator
• interpretation (including some research evidence)
• potential for further local analysis
• policy issues relating to the indicator
• the links between indicators and other published data

Material from the volumes may be freely used provided the source is acknowledged.
