On 11 May 2001, guidance was issued jointly by DH, DfEE, DETR, HO, DCMS, HMT and Cabinet Office on Co-ordinated service planning for vulnerable children and young people in England. It is seen as 'interim' guidance and refers to a number of planning requirements affecting children and their families, many of which have their own statutory underpinning. Because each of the planning requirements has a policy intention behind it, this guidance neither increases nor decreases the net number of planning requirements.
The Children and Young People's Unit (CYPU) intends to continue working with other Government Departments to consider how existing partnerships and planning requirements can be further simplified.
