Social Services Research Group
Welcome to the November edition of SSRG News
In addition to regular contributions from SSRG EC colleagues and from REU, I am pleased to have received articles from Sue Duncan, the newly appointed Government Chief Social Researcher, Tony Hunter, Chair of the ADSS Standards and Performance Committee, Joan Orme, Chair of Joint University Social Work Education Committee, and David Singer from Manchester SSD, who is a member of the Department of Health Technical Working Group.
This is in the news again in several guises. Details of the Audit Commission report on 'Integrated Services for Older People' appear on page 17 and there is an update on the widely criticised 'reimbursement for delayed discharge' idea.
This is being held on 7th, 8th and 9th April 2003 at the University of Leicester. The programme is beginning to take shape, and is beginning to take shape, and details of speakers confirmed to date can be found in this issue of the Newsletter.
The theme of the workshop is 'Quality, Inequality and Diversity in Social Care and Health'. The full programme should be available by the end of January and again we anticipate a good attendance. To avoid disappointment, you can register your interest with Jackie Watson (Contact details: Part -time Coordinator, Wolvercott, The Street, Swannington, Norfolk NR9 5NW. Tel/fax: 01603 261 991. E-mail: j.watson@uea.ac.uk). Information will also be updated on the SSRG website.
Please e-mail contributions for the January 2003 edition by Friday, 20th December. Address is SSRGnews@aol.com, or dhender421@aol.com
