News from the Social Exclusion Unit (SEU)

The Social Exclusion Unit has invited comments on a set of projects that aim to support the Government's work to reform public services. Details of two projects were announced in November.

Improving service delivery for disadvantaged adults will consider why these groups are least likely to benefit from the services that could help them and identify how the barriers can be overcome. The groups identified are:

Better service delivery for disadvantaged people who move frequently will look at how to meet the needs of those who do not have a settled home. The project will look at the impact of frequent moving on people with a variety of experiences, including those leaving the armed services, families who have broken up or suffered domestic violence, those leaving longterm social or hospital care, Gypsies, Travellers and seasonal workers. It willalso consider the effect of an ever-changing population on communities.

Full details of these and other projects, such as Inclusion Through Innovation - Tackling Social Exclusion Through New Technologies, along with the deadline for responses, can be found on the SEU website: http://consultations.socialexclusion.gov.uk/consult
