SSRG Scotland event

Safeguarding Children:
The effective use and dissemination of ‘knowledge’
Tuesday 13th April 2010
CoSLA Conference Centre, Edinburgh.

This event will to look at the 'knowledge' that is available to inform practice and improve outcomes for vulnerable children. The 'knowledge' base is derived from a number of sources, for example research, inspections, local good practice and the views of young people themselves. Effective dissemination of such 'knowledge' is also of great importance!

Speakers confirmed are:

• Rod Harrison, Scottish Government
• Marc Hendrikson, SWIA
• Fred McBride, Convenor of the ADSW Children & Families Standing Committee, and DSW Aberdeen City
• Morag McNeil, University of Edinburgh – evaluation of Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) in Highland
• Elizabeth Smith, Multi-Agency Resource Service (MARS), Stirling University
• Richard Woolfson, Renfrewshire Educational Psychology Service

Other speakers have been invited from HMIE and Ofsted (England) and are expected to confirm soon

The programme will be available in early February

Fees: £85 for SSRG members and £130 for others.

We anticipate that this event will attract a lot of interest and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
